28/04/09 Low flow velocity!   Problem: Flow rates have decreased with less water being available from the dam and the DP flow meter currently installed is no longer accurate. The first option pursued was a DN1100 Magflow meter. This was not able to go ahead due to the immense cost and low flow velocity being out of spec with the meter. Solution: Bintech were then asked to trial their Handheld "Stingray" unit on the 1100mm section of the pipe to see if the ultrasonic technology would do the job. After a successful trial a Bintech fixed version was then installed (Bintech "Shark") in the control room and was connected directly to scada via MODBUS.   Bintech "Shark" Stainless steel strapping bands were used to secure the sensors. Aluminium housing fitted for extra security. Flow meter compared to the previous form of measurement (DP gauge)
